In the days following the treatment, the active ingredients work on two distinct levels: at the level of the superficial dermis, inducing exfoliation that promotes cell turnover and skin regeneration; and at a deeper level, triggering a controlled inflammatory response that stimulates fibroblasts to produce new collagen and elastin.

Medium peel

It penetrates down to the superficial dermis, providing a more effective treatment for moderate wrinkles, more pronounced dark spots, superficial acne scars and changes in skin texture. Recovery times are longer than with superficial peels (generally 5–7 days of visible peeling), but the results are proportionally more significant. PRX

PRX is a new-generation chemical peel based on high-concentration trichloroacetic acid (TCA), balanced with hydrogen peroxide and kojic acid. Its innovative formula delivers the regenerative effects of a medium-to-deep peel without causing the visible flaking typical of traditional peels. It works by stimulating fibroblasts in the deep dermis, improving the skin’s firmness, radiance and overall quality, with virtually no downtime. It is recommended for superficial wrinkles, dull skin, loss of firmness and as a preventative anti-ageing treatment.

PRX Plus

PRX Plus is the enhanced version of PRX, with a higher concentration of active ingredients and a more intense effect on the tissues. It is recommended for patients who require more intensive regenerative stimulation: mature skin, more pronounced wrinkles, mild skin laxity, or for those who have already completed a course of PRX treatment and are seeking more significant results. Like the PRX, it does not cause significant peeling, ensuring excellent tolerability and a short recovery time.

Yellow Peel

Yellow Peel is a chemical peel containing hydroquinone and tretinoin, with skin-lightening, antioxidant and regenerating properties. Its distinctive yellow colour is due to the high concentration of retinoids, which are left on the skin for around 30 minutes. It is the treatment of choice for skin discolouration, sun spots, melasma and post-acne hyperpigmentation, but it is also effective in improving skin texture, reducing superficial wrinkles and enhancing the overall appearance of the complexion. As flaking is expected in the days that follow, it is recommended that you apply a cream with emollient and moisturising properties.

Are chemical facial peels painful?

The treatment is generally well tolerated. During application, you may feel a sensation of warmth or a slight tingling, which subsides quickly. Anaesthesia is not required. In the days that follow, it is normal to experience some peeling, the severity of which will depend on the type of peel used.

How long does the flaking last after a peel?

It depends on the depth of the peel. The PRX and PRX Plus do not cause significant flaking. The Yellow Peel causes the skin to peel over the following 3–5 days. Deeper peels can take up to 7–10 days. Dr Garavaglia will provide detailed guidance on post-treatment care.

How many sessions are needed to see results?

The first signs of improvement are often visible after just the first session. A complete treatment plan generally consists of 3–4 sessions, scheduled 4 weeks apart, with results becoming increasingly apparent over time.

Is a chemical peel suitable for all skin types?

Can I go out in the sun after a chemical peel?

No, not straight away. After any chemical peel, it is essential to avoid direct exposure to the sun and to apply a high-factor sun cream every day. Exposure to the sun in the days following treatment may cause hyperpigmentation and undermine the results achieved.
