Dermatology is the branch of medicine that studies the structure, functions and diseases affecting the skin and its appendages (hair, nails, sebaceous and sweat glands). Some pathologies have a hereditary origin, others are caused by exposure to sunlight, and still others have an infectious origin from viruses and bacteria.
